What you have here is a modern novel of sorts, a "probe-goad" fiction in blog form on the Squarespace platform.
Mark K Bennett - MKBMaxwell Kinney is the conjurer of these probe-goads. Though he has been conditioned by the events in the life of Mark K Bennett, Max is the one who has seen, heard and felt it all.
Like the serial novels of the 19th century Max's story will unfold in installments, posts coming every ten days to two weeks.
Max is the son of Martha and George, was born in Sacramento, California, and currently lives on the California coast, in Del Mar, north of San Diego.

This particular story begins in October 2009.
Max first conjured these self-reporting probe-goads in 1995 as an attempt to follow the wise advice of the social historian Lewis Mumford:
... we must extend the dismaying shortness of life by living it twice, as we encounter it day by day: that is, each of us must slow down his pace sufficiently to follow up his daily performances with the constant practice of meditation and reflection: a daily re-living, in which we examine our target, appraise our marksmanship, readjust our sights.... Only by an act of planned detachment is the living of this second life possible: that is why withdrawal requires a form: a time and a place and even if possible a structure that is dedicated to one’s second life—not as an escape from one’s active existence, but as a means whereby it is completed, and in turn gives fresh impulses and fresh values to the future.
